Her purpose in creating this show is to help educate the public, connecting them to what’s happening with technology, art, green and sustainability in Silicon Valley and beyond. When she thought of the acronym SVTAGS in 2006, the term “green washing” was not yet a coined term well known and she wanted to help people sort through “what’s green and whats’ not!” She has continued this venture with events planned on the Meetup.com site, speaking engagements, and on this SVTAGS.org educational beta Website.

Topic: Art- Reclaiming, Recycle, Re-Purpose and Create
On the 24th at 6:00pm I will be hosting an event on reclaiming/recycling/reusing things and making art from it. This first event will have a hands-on demo on taking old jewelry and found objects to make new!
Please save the date, tell some friends &RSVP here:
There will be a hands on Demo on taking old jewelry, other found things at garage sales or thrift store and making something new. Also, local artists will be there to tell a little about their sustainable artwork that are larger works of art.
Muffin Gibbons is graciously going to do the demo on creating art from found objects at garage sales, thrift store and new stuff from bead shops.
Bring things that you would like to remake something with
"hands-on." If you want to observe and not make something... that's
Refreshments provided at the meeting.
Also, since this is a new group we will be looking for sponsors to cover cost of food/beverages. Let us know if you have any suggestions on this or future Meetup topics for this group!
“It's good for the environment and for our souls to make things," Heather Durham "at this 1st Meetup/SVTAGS event sustainable artists are on hand that do everything from making fire-pits of metal to a techie gal that in her hobby time makes jewelry from reuse/reclaimed items. I hope people will enjoy this special group that we are bringing together for the first time in the Bay Area!"
